Rigoberto Walker indicted for attempted murder and multiple counts of felony assault
July 18, 2019
(Anchorage, AK) –An Anchorage grand jury yesterday indicted 28-year-old Rigoberto Walker for Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and four counts of Assault in the Third Degree. The charges stem from a July 4th stabbing that left a 74-year-old Anchorage woman hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.
According to the initial charging document, the victim was outside near Centennial Circle when Walker approached her and attacked her with a large kitchen knife. The victim, who uses a walker, was moving a plant when the stabbing occurred and did not initially realize she had been stabbed. After the attack on the initial victim, Walker allegedly then threatened two other persons with the knife who tried to come to the woman’s aid.
The initial charging document reports that APD apprehended Walker shortly after the attacks and was identified by one of the victims. Walker is also charged with three additional misdemeanor assault counts.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are only allegations, and a defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty. Walker will be arraigned on July 19, 2019 in Anchorage Superior Court.
