Noatak Man Indicted for Murder of his Wife

(Anchorage, AK) – Yesterday, a Kotzebue grand jury indicted 41-year-old Jim Virgil Adams for killing his wife, Rhoda Adams, and assaulting his cousin, Charlie Bailey III, with a crow bar on June 27, 2020. Mr. Adams was indicted on one count of Murder in the First Degree, one count of Murder in the Second Degree, and one count of Assault in the First Degree.
If convicted at trial, Mr. Adams faces a sentence of up to 99-years of imprisonment for each of the murder charges and up to 20-years of imprisonment for the assault charge.
These charges are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Mr. Adams is currently in custody in lieu of posting a $500,000 cash performance bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Kotzebue on July 15, 2020.
