About the Torts, Workers' Compensation & Corrections Section
The Torts Work Group provides legal defense in tort litigation cases filed against the state, state agencies, and state employees, including personal injury, property damage, and civil rights suits. The section also provides advice and training to reduce the state's liability exposure, and provides legal services to the Division of Risk Management, and through it, to all state agencies.
The Workers' Compensation Work Group represents state agencies as the employer in workers’ compensation matters involving state employees. The section also provides advice and legal services to the Department of Corrections and the Division of Risk Management.
The Corrections Work Group provides legal defense in inmate litigation cases filed against the Department of Corrections and its employees including petitions for post-conviction relief and civil rights suits.
